How do I safeguard my account's security?
1. If you receive a message saying that your WeChat account is at the risk of being compromised when logging in to WeChat, it’s likely because we suspect your account may be compromised. We advise you to change your password immediately. Additionally, if your account was previously linked to a QQ ID, we advise you change your QQ password via aq.qq.com on a computer and to log in to WeChat on a frequently used device.

2. If your WeChat account is compromised but you are still able to login to your account, we advise you log in to your account immediately to change your password and relink any previously linked accounts.

3. If your WeChat account is hacked and your password or previously linked accounts have been changed, we advise you to appeal the occurrence using the following steps:

Appeal your problems by opening WeChat and from the login page > More Options > WeChat Help Center > Send Feedback.

After completely filling in and submitting the report, you will receive an SMS notification within 24 hours with the results of your security report. If your appeal is approved, a new WeChat password will be sent via SMS which you can use to log in to WeChat again.

Notes:
① After using the new password to successfully log in to WeChat, all previously linked accounts will automatically be unlinked so you will need to re-link your mobile number/QQ ID/Email/Facebook in order to keep these accounts associated with your WeChat account.
② If you accidentally lose or delete the new password sent to you via SMS before logging in to your account, you can fill in and submit a report again in order to obtain another password.
③ If you are still unable to log in using the new password sent to you via SMS, tap here.
④ Unable to appeal? Tap here.

4. If you are unable to log in to WeChat and you believe your account has been compromised, we advise you to immediately freeze your account to prevent offenders from using your account inappropriately. To freeze your account, follow the steps below:
Freeze your account by opening WeChat from the login page > More Options > WeChat Security Center > Freeze Account, and follow the instructions.

Notes:
① Freezing your account temporarily prevents anyone from using your account and will NOT cancel your account.
② After freezing your WeChat account, your account information will not be deleted and your friends will still be able to find you in Contacts and send messages to you.
③ Avoid freezing and unfreezing your account too many times; otherwise, for account security, your account will be automatically frozen and will unable to be manually unfrozen.

5. For account security, if you lose your mobile phone or your account is compromised, log in to WeChat from a different device as soon as possible by going to Me > Settings > Account Security >  Manage Devices and delete any unsafe devices from the list of prior devices. For your account's security, you may need to verify your identity when you log in again from the deleted device.
